Every Sunday: Skinny's Lounge

(Thanks to Special K, with her endorsement I feel confident posting it here. PLUS Charlie and I will be going here on Sunday!)

EVERY SUNDAY NIGHT!
Skinny's Lounge
4923 Lankershim Blvd.
North Hollywood, CA 91601
818-763-6581

I've never been here before but here is Special K's review. I'll be able to provide my OWN review after Sunday.

...since you are collecting more spots - put down Skinny's in North Hollywood. They have live band karaoke (o feel ya is the name of the band) on Sunday nights starting at 9pm. they are really good and everyone is afraid to sing so you get to go up a lot. i want more people to come because it is kinda dead but it is right across the street from where (her boyfriend) lives. the band is really friendly.

Check back after Sunday for my input.

Every Wednesday/Last Sunday of the month: Hyperion Bar

(Thanks to Bri-Guy for the reminder about this gem!)

EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT! ROCK BAND-AOKE!
LAST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH! TOMAHAWK-E-OKE!
Hyperion Tavern
1941 Hyperion Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90027
323-665-1941

Rock Band nights are pretty kick ass, plus it's hosted/promoted by my friend Grant. (He's pretty high-fiveable, plus our birthdays are a DAY apart!) More often than not, you get to go up a few times. Cons: There are some regulars who go there and swear that they're REALLY in a Rock Band in a way that's not entertaining. (See the post below.) It's karaoke, yo.

Why it's better than Brass Monkey:
1) Rock Band. Hello, addiction!
2) Beer only bar, but beers are actually priced...like a beer.
3) Constant update to the song list.
4) Grant. LOVES HIM.

TOMAHAWK-E-OKE!! Even the most seasoned karaoke-addicts can get a little intimidated here. The night Charlie and I went they were having technical difficulties, they couldn't get the projectors to work so we did iPhone-aoke. We pulled up the lyrics to the song and hoped we got the song right!

OH! I forgot to mention! COSTUMES! Not just ANY costumes...I think a picture says a thousand words.
